‘Data fusion’ aims to make smart-grid even smarter

GridGlo, a Florida startup company, is aiming to make utilities even smarter with ‘data fusion’.

GridGlo claims it can give “deep insight into energy behaviour patterns” using data from advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), and also demographics, satellite imagery, financial data, social behaviour, and other information sources.

Whilst the data used by GridGlo is anonymous, their data fusion method is used to develop an Energy People Meter (EPM) score, which gives utilities “a real-time digital fingerprint of people’s energy behaviour patterns.”
