World’s largest investors call for global carbon legislation

At the ‘Investor Summit on Climate Risk’, some of the world’s largest investor’s called for the US and other governments, to adopt a national Climate Change policy, to encourage low-carbon investments and a global reduction in emissions.

The investor’s represent £13 trillion in assets and are likely to be responsible for financing over 85% of the global changes to become a low-carbon economy. In a statement released on Thursday 14th January, they said ‘we cannot wait for a global treaty’, and are asking the world’s decision-makers to ‘take rapid action’.
