UK Government seeks industry input on microgeneration

The coalition government has opened a consultation on microgeneration with UK energy businesses. This comes after their summer promise to include the industry more when discussing strategy.

Microgeneration could help reduce fuel bills and allow domestic customers to become self-sufficient, even allowing them to sell their excess energy back to suppliers.

Climate Change Minister Greg Barker said:

“I am planting the seeds for growth so we can see small scale energy generation flourish in homes, businesses and communities. [This] consultation will ensure that the industry and consumers have the confidence to invest.”
