Installing smart gas meters in Ireland could save millions

A study by the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) has found that Irish residents and the country would save €59 million ($81 million) over the next 20 years by installing smart gas meters across Ireland. The study, which finished in May 2011, was based on a trial of 2,000 smart gas meters.

The savings would come from lower bills. Other advantages of smart meters include efficiency and environmental benefits.
