Figures showing how different areas are adopting the Green Deal, the Government’s flagship energy-saving scheme, have been published today.
The Green Deal allows homeowners to take out a loan to insulate their homes, and take other measures to make their homes more energy efficient. The loan is then paid back through the resulting energy savings.
The new figures published by the Energy Saving Trust show that Kirklees Council, in Yorkshire, has the highest uptake in terms of percentage of its housing stock – almost 25%. The lowest uptake was in City of London, with less than 0.1%.
