The Commission for Energy Regulation, which oversees the liberalisation of Ireland’s energy sector, has today released the results of its smart metering trials.
The results show that customers have embraced smart meters, reducing their energy consumption and bills.
CER says 82% of residential customers taking part in the trial made a change to their usage.
According to CER, smart meters could save the country and its consumers up to €174m over the next 15 to 20 years.
