Smart meter technology can take control of household appliances

The National Grid have announced that they believe the latest in smart meter technology will take control of our household appliances such as dishwashers and heating, by communicating with similarly equipped appliances via a Bluetooth-style wireless technology.

OnStream, a National Grid company, is one of Britain’s leading metering companies, providing gas and electricity metering solutions to energy suppliers across Great Britain.   They are responsible for the development of this smart meter technology and say it will ultimately change the way in which Britain uses its electricity and gas.

Chief Executive of National Grid, Steve Holliday said: “We believe that this meter is what the industry has been waiting for.”
