Smart meters are a target for hackers

On Friday 6^th August, The Independent reported security concerns over the accelerated roll-out of smart meters.

Research by the Pike Research Group, claims that despite high levels of investment, companies are putting their own interests ahead of consumers, leaving them vulnerable to “cyber attacks”. Pike Research said smart meters were the “weakest link in the smart grid security chain” and that “a solution was unlikely before 2012”.
